Objective
The competition aims at enhancing written communication skills among Japanese language learners through photo and captions as well as the joy of making stories from words.
Theme: BREAKFAST
Breakfast has been an important part of our life. It connects us to who we are, what our values are, and how we feel.
The mere sight of our favourite or usual food we have for breakfast, its setting or tableware used, and the place or hawker stall we frequent for breakfast could evoke strong memories or emotions.
RESULT ANNOUNCEMENT
This year, 106 entries from 90 contestants. However, 34 entries were disqualified as they did not meet the requirement of the competition,
with judges' comments

The photo shows the breakfast prepared by my mother before I go to school everyday, which are two buns and a cup of hot drink. The drink represents "1" whereas the buns represents "00", thus forming the number 100. This food and drink arrangement makes me feel more confident to score full marks in my examination.

The caption is used to describe how I felt when eating the biscuit, which was a sense of loneliness as I ate it alone. I used the colour blue as it is a colour usually associated with sadness or loneliness. I wrote「ひとり」in lighter blue to draw attention.

COMMENTS FROM THE JUDGES
'Since there were a lot of contestants in this competition, it was very challenging to make the selection. However, it was a good experience. I think this is a very interesting competition because the contestants need to think of the most appropriate word(s) in Japanese to describe their pictures. Seeing how the contestants put into words and relate them with emotions, feelings, and thoughts was something very interesting, although it was quite tough in making judgments. Overall, thumbs up to the organizer! Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity!'
