KAMISHIBAI Magic 1:

Discover the enchanting world of Kamishibai, the traditional Japanese art of paper theatre! In this workshop series, participants will explore how Kamishibai storytellers use sequential picture cards to bring stories to life. These aren’t just stand-alone illustrations—they are thoughtfully crafted images that flow from one to the next, creating movement and drama in storytelling.

In the first session, participants will learn different ways to visualize a story and transform it into a series of illustrated flashcards. Through interactive sharing and hands-on activities, they’ll exchange ideas, explore creative drawing techniques, and begin crafting their very own Kamishibai tale.

REQUIREMENT: Some knowledge of Japanese Language but not necessary.

This workshop will be conducted in English with some simple Japanese.
